A Survey of 3D Tesselation Models
In this class, I'll survey some of the techniques for developing 3D (i.e., non-flat) origami tessellations and we'll fold some examples. These models have a great "WOW" factor when collapsed from their crease pattern into the final form. I'll also do my best to give credit to everyone I know who has delved into this little-known origami sub-genre (like Ron Resch, Toshikazu Kawasaki, Paolo Barreto, Chris Palmer, Gary Kazin, David Huffman, myself, and many many others). Some of the tessellations shown in the below photo will be taught and perhaps others too, but the theory behind all these types of tessellations will be the emphasis.
