Expanding Polyhedron Frog Unit
This model is an attempt at kinetic modular origami. It's a slightly deformed cuboctahedron (the square faces have been folded along the diagonal a bit) which collapses into the skeleton of an octahedron. The locking mechanism is very strong and the transformation motion is quite nice. (Although it takes some doing to pry the octahedron skeleton apart once it's collapsed.) Each unit, before being assembled, looks kind of like a frog head (not shown in the picture), which explains the strange name I gave the unit. I'm still exploring what other structures can be made with this unit and how well they flex. I'll present my discoveries in the class. This will be a high-intermediate level class.

Expanding Polyhedron Frog Unit
Looks very cool, Tom! I'm looking forward to this one. As for the colors, don't worry about me. I never use "nice" colors on my first attempts -- I'll probably be doing this one in pink, gray, and purple!

Re: Pink and Brown?
Uh... the colors in the photo are pink, red, and black, and they look that way on my screen.
But worry not, no one in the class will be forced to use garish colors. :)

Pink & brown?
My eyes, my eyes! Maybe better colours will be used in the class? :)
